Copenhagen Metro – Phase 3 - The Metro uses driverless trains from the Italian company Ansaldo. Each unit has three cars with wide aisles and sliding doors for ease of access. It has seats for 96 passengers and standing room for 204 more. Each car has six sets of automatic double sliding doors, and call points from which passengers can communicate with the main control centre. The maximum design speed is 80 km/h (50 mph). The trains operate 24 hours a day, with intervals as short as 90 seconds at peak times. The third phase of the Copenhagen Metro extends from Lergravsparken to the Copenhagen Airport. It is 4.5 km in all with 5 new stations, and at a total cost of around EUR 200 mio. Most of the line is on the ground in the open. On certain sections it runs in an open-air tunnel.  It is scheduled to open in 2007.
